The third brake light assembly, also known as the high-mount brake lamp, is an important safety component of your Mercedes-Benz vehicle. Replacing the brake light assembly entails purchasing an entirely new assembly from your local Mercedes-Benz dealer. The replacement process is very simple and only requires the use of a Phillips-head screwdriver. The entire procedure takes only a few minutes.
Turn off the vehicle's engine.
Remove the lens cover on the third brake light by removing the four screws plainly visible. Pull off the lens.
Disconnect the assembly by pushing in the tab on the electrical connector at the rear of the assembly.
Disengage the two clips on the assembly and pull it out. Install the new assembly and connect the electrical connector to the rear of the assembly.
Reattach the lens cover and install the screws.
