Removing the window crank from a Jeep is a simple task involving only one tool. It may be necessary to remove one or both window cranks from a Jeep to perform many interior repairs and modifications, so it is a good skill to know. Knowing how to remove a Jeep window crank properly will also prevent breakage of fragile crank handle parts due to improper removal techniques.
Roll the window all the way down on the door from which the handle is to be removed.
Pull the door handle slightly away from the panel to reveal a small, silver c-clip that secures the handle to the window regulator. The clip must be removed to free the crank handle from the window regulator.
Slide the open end of the window and door clip removal tool between the crank handle and the door panel until it meets resistance.
Turn the crank handle until you feel the tool engage the open end of the c-clip. Apply light pressure against the clip with the removal tool to push the clip free.
Pull the crank handle free of the door panel.
