When replacing the power steering pulley on your engine, it is almost impossible to do so without a power steering pulley remover. The reason is that the pulley is is pressed onto the pump at the factory and requires a tremendous amount of force to remove. You may need to replace the power steering pulley if it has been damaged or if you are looking to replace it with a chrome pulley to dress up the engine for a car show.
Remove the power steering pulley nut with a ratchet.
Remove the power steering belt by loosening the tensioner with a ratchet. Then, loosen the lock bolt with a ratchet as well and pull up on the power steering belt and remove from the pulley.
Position the power steering pulley remover jaws around the power steering pulley and the bolt at the center of the pulley.
Tighten the power steering pulley remover with a ratchet until the pulley pops off the power steering pump.
Loosen the power steering pulley remover with a ratchet and remove the pulley from it.
