The tail-light parts on a Mitsubishi automobile are normally a single unit and must be replaced as one. Removing the tail lights will require access to the trunk and a few common tools. When replacing the tail-light parts, you should consider buying Mitsubishi original parts. While aftermarket parts should fit, nothing fits on a Mitsubishi like the original equipment made by the manufacturer.
Open the trunk and pull up the luggage carpet.
Remove the screws holding the tail-light cover in place.
Pull the tail-light cover off.
Remove the electrical plug running to the tail lights by squeezing the plug and pulling it out of the tail-light ballast.
Remove the wing nuts that hold the tail-light assembly to the body. You should be able to do this by hand.
Pull the tail-light assembly off the Mitsubishi and install the new tail-light parts. Installation is the reverse of removal.
