The Hyundai Sonata was created in 1989 and redesigned in 2006. No matter the trim or year that you own, it's possible to blow a fuse at some time. When this happens, you can easily and quickly replace it with a new fuse with no tools and a few minutes of your time.
Turn off your car before you replace a fuse. Find the fuse box, located in the passenger compartment under the dashboard on the left of the driver's side.
Remove the fuse box cover and find the location of the fuse you need on the inside of the cover. A 2000 Hyundai Sonata, for instance, houses the dashboard illumination light fuse in slot 24.
Pull the fuse out using a fuse puller or your thumb and index finger. Check the fuse to verify it's blown--indicated by a melted or broken wire.
Click a new fuse that has the same amperage rating into the slot. In the example of the illumination light fuse in Step 2, the 2000 Hyundai Sonata uses a 10 amp mini fuse.
Replace the fuse box cover and restart your car. Test out your new fuse to ensure that it's working properly.
