The 2002 Hyundai Accent is the most compact car available in the Hyundai line for that model year. The base model is equipped with a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine. The GS and GL models include a slightly larger, 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine. The 2002 Accent is available in two body styles, a 2-door hatchback and a 4-door sedan. Use an 1157 bulb to replace the brake light bulb in the event of a failure.
Open the trunk of your Hyundai.
Remove the two retaining screws on the inboard edge of the brake light assembly used to retain it to the car's body, using a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the brake light assembly straight off the car. Locate the light bulb socket on the rear of the assembly.
Turn the socket on the back of the assembly counterclockwise, then pull it out of the assembly. Pull the bulb out of the socket and discard it.
Install a new bulb into the socket and insert the socket into the rear of the assembly. Turn the socket clockwise to lock it into position.
Position the brake light on the rear of the car body, and install the two retaining screws. Tighten the screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Close the trunk and step on the brake pedal to verify that the brake light is working properly.
