The navigation system in a BMW runs on software that needs to be upgraded every six months. This software displays maps and routes, tourist attractions, traffic information, and even where to find a parking space. The software upgrades are available on CD or DVD, and can be purchased from your local BMW dealer. Upgrading the navigation software takes several hours to complete.
Insert the new navigation CD or DVD into the CD/DVD drive on the dashboard. Keep the label on the CD or DVD face up.
Follow the instructions on the control display.
Press "1" to eject the navigation CD or DVD after the navigation system has finished upgrading. Pull the navigation CD or DVD out of the CD/DVD drive on the dashboard.
