The 4L60E Corvette servo was designed to improve the shifting performance of a 4L60E transmission. The 4L60E transmission was utilized by GM in several applications, but came equipped in the Corvette with a special servo to improve shifting performance.
The Corvette servo provides firmer and faster shifts out of the 4L60E; the larger surface area allows for a 50-percent increase in holding power in second gear. An added benefit of the servo is that is usually improves the life of the second gear clutch-pack.
Installation of the servo requires a flathead screwdriver and a c-clamp. The servo is installed in the side housing of the transmission. It is accessed without the need to drop either the transmission or the transmission pan.
You might lose up to quart of transmission fluid during the swap, so it is advisable to keep extra transmission on hand.
