Replacing a sunroof can be a challenging task if you do not have the proper skills or training. But, with the right tools and attention to detail, you can end up with a finished product that you can be proud of.
Place the newspaper over the existing sunroof and fold it so that it is the exact same shape and size of the sunroof.
Position the newspaper pattern onto the plywood to make your cut.
Cut the pattern from the plywood.
Use a clamp to affix the sheet metal to the plywood. Form the indentations on the corners of the sheet metal.
Check your pattern to make sure the sheet metal and plywood are properly attached. Make necessary changes.
Remove the old sunroof.
Use a primer on your new sunroof to prepare for painting.
Insert and fasten the new sunroof with pop rivets.
Apply the goop to make sure there are no problems with leakage. Allow it to dry.
Cover the area surrounding the sunroof with newspaper to prepare for painting.
Paint. Use whatever color you would like. As far as style, you can use what is cost effective for you, but most cars are painted with basecoat/clearcoat, tricoat, or single stage paint. The "Paint Scratch" website explains the difference between these types of paint.
Enjoy your new sunroof!
