The F-350 is the larger, heavier version of the Ford F-150. It offers a longer bed, larger engine and larger cabin. This allows the F-350 to provide a comfortable ride generally unexpected in a pickup truck. The F-350 comes with an automatic transmission; its shifter handle is located conveniently on the steering column. If the shifter handle breaks it can be replaced by the vehicle owner.
Turn off your F-350's engine, and open its hood. Disconnect the black cable running to the car battery.
Remove the screws holding the cover on the steering column. Pull off the top and bottom portion of the cover.
Remove the two screws holding the shifter arm to the steering column.
Disconnect the small wire harness that connects to the shifter arm. Pull the shifter arm out of the steering column.
Connect the new shifter arm to the steering column, and wire its electrical connection. Tighten the two screws to secure the new shifter on the steering column.
Place the top and bottom covers back on the steering column. Tighten its screws to secure it to the vehicle.
Reconnect the black battery cable and close the hood.
