There are a number of reasons why someone might want to add alcohol to a vehicle's gas tank. Alcohol is used in tasks such as cleaning the tank, increasing a vehicle's octane and efficiency and removing water from the car's system. Regardless of the reason for use, there is an easy method for adding alcohol to the engine.
Measure the appropriate amount of alcohol for your specific purposes using a measuring cup. For cleaning a gas tank that's been removed from the car, use two to three 16 oz. bottles. Use one 16 oz. bottle in a full tank if you're trying to remove water build-up.
Pour the alcohol into a clean, empty gas can.
Open the gas tank of your car in the method specific to the make and model.
Stick the gas can nozzle into your car's gas tank in the same manner as you fill it with fuel.
Tilt the gas can forward and pour the alcohol into the tank until the can is empty.
