Ford Taurus vehicles come equipped with the auto-lock feature which automatically locks the car doors when all of the doors are closed or when the vehicle travels faster than 12 miles per hour. Having the auto-lock feature enabled may not always be desirable because of the risk of accidentally locking your car keys in the car. If you want to disable your Ford Taurus auto-lock feature, you may do so through your dashboard instrument cluster.
Turn your vehicle's ignition to the "On" position. Remain parked through this process.
Press the "Setup" button on your dashboard until you see the "Autolock" option appear. You may have to press the button between 4 and 6 times.
Press the "Reset" button located next to the "Setup" button on your dashboard until the auto-lock feature displays the "Off" status. Your auto-lock feature is now disabled.
Turn your vehicle's ignition to the "Off" position. Exit your vehicle and close all of the doors. Your vehicle's doors will not automatically lock.
