The Jeep Compass is a mid-size sport utility vehicle, or SUV. The Compass comes with wheels and tires that use a five-bolt locking mechanism. These five bolts slide through the wheels of the automobile and are secured with lug nuts. To remove a wheel/tire set requires a wheel jack and a tire iron. Removing all four of the wheel/tire sets requires a larger auto shop floor jack because the Compass will need to hang on the jack once the wheels are removed.
Place the Jeep Compass into park and turn off the vehicle.
Slide the wheel jack under the wheel well of the wheel/tire set to be removed. Find a solid part of the Compass chassis to rest the jack lift on.
Raise the wheel/tire off the ground and place the tire iron on one lug nut. Turn to the left until the lug nut loosens. Go in a circle and loosen each lug nut.
Unscrew the nuts from the bolts by hand and place them in a secure location. Pull the wheel/tire combo off the Compass.
Drive the Jeep Compass on top of the hydraulic floor lift. Raise the Compass off the ground so all four wheels/tires are in the air.
Loosen the tire lug nuts with a tire iron or an air screw gun. Unscrew all the lug nuts from the bolts by hand once loosened. Place them in a secure location.
Pull the wheels/tires off the bolts.
