Working brake lights are an essential safety feature as well as a legal requirement. Changing the brake lights on your 2005 Toyota Camry can be done in a few minutes without any tools. By performing this simple repair yourself, you can save the time and money you would waste at an auto repair shop.
Open the trunk of your Toyota Camry.
Open the plastic access panel covering the tail light assembly from the side closest to the center of the trunk. The outside edge has a hinge. If you cannot remove it with your hands, gently pry it open with a screwdriver.
Rotate the socket for the burnt-out bulb counterclockwise, as if you are facing the back of the bulb. Then pull the socket out of the light assembly.
Push the lock release button in the socket and remove the old bulb. It pulls straight out.
Install the new bulb until it clicks into place.
Reinstall the light socket by reversing step 3.
Snap the access panel back into place.
