It is very important to keep your Lexus Rx 300 taillights in good working condition. It is dangerous to drive with a broken taillight and also, driving with a burned-out taillight puts you at risk or a traffic citation. Removing a taillight does not take a long time and requires only basic tools.
Disconnect the battery by removing the negative (black) cable from the battery. Use a wrench to loosen the battery cable's bolt and then remove the cable.
Open the trunk to access the taillight. Look at the trunk liner on the top rear of the inside of the trunk. When removed, this will expose the taillight.
Unscrew the four clips that hold the lining in place. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver. Then, pull back the felt lining.
Take off the four nuts that hold the taillight cover in place. Take off the nuts with a socket. Pull the cover away to expose the light bulb.
Twist the light and pull it off its dock. Remove the bulb from the light by twisting it to the left.
