The service alerts in your BMW come on whenever regular maintenance is required. Once the maintenance is done, however, the service alerts need to be cleared. The on-board diagnostic computer stores a code that tells the computer that there is service required. To clear the service alerts, you need to reset the codes. For that, a special OBD reset tool is required which is available from your BMW dealership.
Open the fuse panel cover under your BMW's steering column.
Plug the electrical connector from the diagnostic reset tool into the fuse panel. There is a large circular plug coming out of the OBD tool that plugs into a large, circular input on the fuse panel.
Turn the ignition key to the "On" position and let the OBD tool run. The service alerts should go out once the codes are cleared.
