Whether you need to remove the seats on a VW Beetle to replace the covers or to do other repair work, it is a simple procedure. It is often easier to have a friend help though so make sure you recruit a helper before you get started. No matter how old your Beetle is the removal process is similar.
Look under the seat and find either a spring or a screw and stopper. Older models will probably have a spring.
Disconnect the spring or unscrew the screw and remove the stopper.
Ask your friend to get in the back and push the seat forward as far as it can go while you lift the center adjustment lever.
Push the seat off the track.
Lift the seat out.
