The S-15, a small truck made by GMC, was introduced as a 1982 model. It was renamed the Sonoma in the 1991 model year, a nameplate that was used until 2003. In 2004 GMC's small truck was completely redesigned and called the Canyon. The GMC Sonoma shared bodies and platforms with the Chevrolet S-10 pickup. The Sonoma came standard with a four-cylinder engine, but a more powerful V-6 was optional. Know the location of your Sonoma's spare tire so that you will be better prepared in a roadside emergency.
Kneel down at the rear of the truck.
Peer under and just forward of the rear bumper.
Locate the spare tire mounted to the underside of the body in between the frame rails.
