Wheel locks are small devices similar to lugnuts that attach a wheel to an axle. Wheel locks can prevent wheel theft, by requiring a special key to remove them. Unfortunately, sometimes wheel lock keys get lost, making it impossible to rotate or replace our tires without a key.
Write down the 17-digit VIN from your vehicle. Your VIN can be found on your registration or on the upper part of the driver's side dashboard below the base of the windshield.
Record the tire size for your vehicle. The tire size can be found on the sidewall of a tire and usually consists of numbers such as: 235/50R/17. Write down the entire series of numbers.
Visit or call the local dealer that sells your brand of vehicle; preferably the one the vehicle was purchased from when new. Ask for the parts department and request a factory wheel lock key for your vehicle. The dealer can look up your VIN and tire size and determine which lock key to provide you with.
