Molina 335i

Last month, Carlos Molina’s ’08 BMW 335i received many new parts. The Prior Design widebody was painted Ferrari Bianco Fugi white and installed at the Rollin’ Art body shop in Vegas.

The engine was upgraded with ESS software, plus a Stett Performance intake and charge pipe, leading to a RPI exhaust.

The exterior complete, Rollin’ Art turned their attention to the interior. As you can see from the photos, Cobra Misano L carbon-fiber seats are being reupholstered in gray and black suede. Gray suede will also cover the A, B and C pillars plus the door cards. Finally, black suede will be added to the e-brake and shift boots before an ACE Custom Steering Wheel finishes the interior with an alcantara-wrapped wheel.

Carlos is planning to use the car to promote ACE Steering Wheels in upcoming shows...

The interior will apparently be completed in less than a week, with the aim of making the 335i available for the SEMA and CES auto shows later this year.

RS4/RS6 Swap

We’re three months into following the creation of a 700hp RS4 after a customer asked Advanced Technologies, HT Motorsport and EFI Express to swap an engine from an RS6 into an ’07 Audi RS4.

Taking on such a daunting task, the team is still working out the details of the conversion. The B7 engine bay is tight, with its massive headlights requiring several ingenious solutions in particular. The new twin-turbo V8 engine was placed as low and far back as possible to make room for the intercoolers and radiator. An extensive rework of the chassis legs and front core support has enabled the team to complete the task.

A dry sump was introduced as another solution to accommodate the massive T4 twin-scroll Borg Warner EFR turbos, which are mounted low and to the front of the bay. The exhaust manifolds have been designed with 3D CAD software to incorporate equal-length runners to achieve maximum pulse delivery. However, they’re still awaiting the arrival of the turbos before final fitting.

A SQS sequential shifter will be used on a modified 01E transmission that houses custom, straight-cut first and second ratios. The transmission will also get an upgraded clutch, lightweight flywheel and special adapter plate to bolt it to the RS6 engine.

In the meantime, the build is waiting on a few more parts shipments before completion. Remember to return next month to see the project’s progression.
