To step the Wunderdog up to real show-car level we decided some powdercoating was in order. Forget about beating Johnny, his car is super-wack (I think Sean forgets which magazine he actually works for. - JW) we’re going after the real show look. In order to do this we can’t have busted up 7/10 condition pieces – we need 10/10 knock-your-socks-off stuff. This is where powdercoating comes in. We’ve never powdercoated before, and to everyone’s surprise the process was super easy. In fact,we found that getting professional results with powder is easier than with paint. You gotta try this!
| 01 Here’s our new powdercoating gun we ordered from Summit Racing along with some powder samples. We made a mistake when ordering and got a bunch of Silver Grey. While that color would look great on a battleship, it didn’t cut it for our CRX. What we loved was their Bengal Clear and Satin Black. | 02 We’re not sure where Robbie came up with this busted-ass oven, but it does the trick. It just needed a Project Car sticker to make it official and we’re ready to rock! One of Robbie’s side jobs is managing apartments. We’re thinking one of the tenants will be in for a surprise tonight. Seriously though, don’t use your mother’s oven for this job. Once used for powdercoating, the oven cannot be used to prepare food.
