The braking on our 240SX was pitiful at best. We knew we had to upgrade, but a big brake kit definitely wasn’t in our budget. We weren’t looking to stop on a Super lap attempt, but instead, on smaller tracks and some industry events so the Power Slot rotors, Hawk pads and Techna Fit stainless steel lines were perfect.

Tein Type Basic Coilovers
Install Time: 1 Hour
Difficulty: 2 out of 5
Tools Needed: Ratchet, sockets (12mm, 14mm, 17mm,) wrench (17mm), impact gun, spring compressor, jack stands, jack
Rolling stock height wasn’t cutting it for us. Shocks and springs were a possibility, but the Tein Type Basic coilovers were around the same price. Plus we’d be able to adjust the ride height and change some minor settings to prep the car for the track. Tein offers several different coilover lines, but the Basic was the one that fit in our budget.
Circuit Sports Bars
Install Time: 45 minutes
Difficulty: 1 out of 5
Tools Needed: Ratchet, sockets (12mm, 14mm)
On the track, you want the least amount of chassis flex as possible. We contacted Phase 2 Motortrend to get a full set of bars to help stiffen things up. They hooked us up with Circuit Sports front and rear strut bars as well as a rear trunk bar. The install for these bars is very quick and easy, plus they’re inexpensive. When we go to the track, they should greatly help the cornering ability of our 240.
Circuit Sports Subframe Bushings
Install Time: 30 minutes
Difficulty: 2 out of 5
Tools Needed: Ratchet, socket (17mm), jack, jack stands
We’ve never installed subframe bushings so we weren't sure what to expect—we even set aside a couple of hours. But the Circuit Sports bushings we got from Phase 2 Motortrend can now officially be called an “easy” install. These fit in the place of the stock rubber bushings and stiffen up the rear end to give more control to our FR machine.
